We are pleased to announce Prof. Yakubu Issaka, Dean of the UMaT School of Railways and Infrastructure Development, Essikado, Sekondi-Takoradi Campus, as an Instructor for the GH-BISE Pre- Conference Training


Profile of Facilitator


Professor Yakubu Issaka obtained his BSc degree in Geomatic Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana.


He later obtained his Master of Philosophy degree and Doctor of Philosophy in Geomatic Engineering from the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa, Ghana.


Additionally, He holds an MSc in Land Policy and Administration from the University of Cape Coast.


He also has a Certificate in Disaster Risk Management and Environmental Assessment for Spatial Planning from the International Institute for Geo-information Science and Earth Observation (ITC)-University of Twente, The Netherlands.


For about 20 years, Professor Yakubu has been part of various research and consulting groups, and in some cases as the lead for some Agricultural plantations, mining, and allied companies.


It is worthy to note that he has carefully balanced his academics with industrial exposure over the years. His research interests include: Geo-Information for Disaster Management, Land Policy and Administration, Mine Surveying, Spatial Planning, Infrastructural Mapping, Cadastral and Engineering Surveying, Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and applications, and Geographic Information System (GIS) applications.


He is a member of the Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS); Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE); International Associations of Engineers (IAENG); a Fellow of the West African Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (WAIMM); and a member of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS).


He was a member of the Tender Review Committee, Western North Region, Ghana; a former member of the Advisory Board, Ministry of Railways Development, Ghana. Former member of the Governing Council, Bagabaga College of Education, Tamale. Former Technical Committee/Panel Member, Mineral Income Investment Fund.


He is the foundation and current Dean of the UMaT School of Railways and Infrastructure Development, Essikado, Sekondi-Takoradi Campus, and a Licensed Surveyor (LS 409).
