From the New Section Director- Sheena Owusu-Ansah
2024/2025
I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the remarkable feat we have chalked as a Section. Its been a year of growth, collaborations, and outstanding achievements. Our program’s calendar was brimming with enriching events and programs from the various committees.
The Section has seen a steady upward growth of members and the addition of two new chapters Society of Petroleum Engineers( SPE -TTU Chapter) and Society of Petroleum Engineers - SPE, KsTU Chapter.
One of the major highlights of the year was the planning and successful execution of the 2nd SPE Ghana Biennial International Summit & Exhibition.
We also hosted for the very first time in Ghana, the Africa Section Officers Meeting, the Africa Young Professionals Away day & Workshop and the Africa Regional Dinner & Awards. All these were a resounding success.
The icing on the cake was the Ghana Section, winning for the second time in a row, the “Africa Young Professionals Debate”.
I use this opportunity to personally express profound gratitude, to the amazing group of 2023/2024 Section Officers that I had the opportunity to work with over this period. The Section would not have seen this much growth without your dedication and passion for SPE.
My sincerest appreciation also goes to is our advisory board, chaired by Dr. Ben Asante. Their immense support and advise has enabled us to continue the good works that the Section set out to do.
I am also very grateful to the companies that heeded to our call when we needed funds for GH-BISE. (Ghana National Gas Company Limited, SLB, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Petroleum Commission, Ghana, Rigworld Solutions , Kenyon International West Africa Company Limited, Gecric Asset Integrity Management and MODEC Production Services Ghana JV Ltd.)
I also want to personally thank every speaker, moderator and volunteers, other Sections and organizations that we collaborated and partnered with over the last 12months to make sure we walked the talk.
The latest organization the section signed an MoU with is the Chemical and Mining division of the Ghana Institution of Engineering.
The unwavering support of the outgoing Africa Regional Director Oghogho Effiom, C. Dir. and the incoming Africa Regional Director Riverson Oppong, PhD., past Section directors, Ato Aidoo, and Ing. Celestina Yaaba Kissi AMIChemE made a big difference in attaining this height.
Also, to every single person and organization that helped the section this past year in any way or form, I say a very big thank you.
I encourage every member and all stakeholders to continue showing immense support to the in-coming chairperson Derrick E. K. Klutsey, and to also engage actively in all section activities. That is the only way we can continue to positively impact our industry.
Congratulations to the new board of 2024/2025 Section Officers. I wish you all the best on this journey in taking the Society of Petroleum Engineers - SPE Ghana Section to the next level.
